Sydney's weather has been pretty bleak lately, but today there was a reward for venturing into the garden: one of my lovely bromeliads hatched this crazy prehistoric flower. Most of my broms were dug up from other bits of the garden, found on the footpath or bought in random mail order job lots, so I never have any idea what their flowers will look like. This one confirms that surprises are better than planning.
