I must be the only ex-lawyer around who actually misses filling in a time sheet - the most lamented aspect of private practice. Everyone says it's ridiculous that laywers have to mark down their time in 6 minute increments (that's an hour divided by 10, so not actually rocket science) but when I was a lawyer I quite liked it. It helped me keep track of the day. Job complete, 10 units on the time sheet, sense of achievment, move on.
Now I just have the time honoured practice of list making and ticking off to satisfy my Type-A personality tendencies.
It's lunch time on Friday and I have cleared my to-do list, filed 3 stories, made the relevant appointments for next week. I even have the vicarious sense of achievement from watching someone else work: we had an arborist come in and cut down our guava tree to give us some more light and get rid of the fruit fly. So I got to tick off "cut down the bl**dy guava tree" from my household list.
Now I have an afternoon to find the card from the handy man who's going to install our new sink (chase up sink from supplier, tick) which is the last household maintenance task on my list.
Man, I am so e-freakin-fficient. Where's my time sheet?
I cannot believe no more guava ... jam, juice whatever! Plus I want to read about the pink laptops plus green with envy - I have three things on my list and they are all dragging on forever.

You're just rubbing salt in the wound for me - Friday is still dragging on here and my to-do list has taken on a life of its own and looms at the end of my desk like a multi-armed toothed monster rendered in Post-It note form.
His tentacles are waving menacingly...

its a great sense of achievement - to tick off the list. I've been too busy this month to make anything other than a grocery list for one days dinner. Until this afternoon!!. The first thing on my August list was 'ask Nick to make potato cakes for dinner' - and he said yes!!! Now that I have cleaned up after this event I am wondering what else to go on the list. Can you believe its September next week.

I don't have a timesheet here either. I hate it as I can't prove that I could flex off now and then! Plus you know - I am anal. I continue to be the master of the list. This week mine included organise summer sports for Paddy (nippers and basketball - both newies tick tick) have you done that yet?
