Happy Mother's Day to my fellow mothers.
It's been a very motherly weekend: yesterday my sister and I went to our sister-in-law's baby shower, preparing for the arrival of our new niece. It was lovely to see Cat preparing to become a mother, drink champagne and taste the wares of the famous Goulbourn cake lady. Lemon and sour cream, mmm.
Today I have done little other than eat. It started with pancakes with strawberries in bed, moved through endamame and ramen at Wagamama for lunch, coffee and cookies at Customs House and finished with Petersham Charcoal Chicken and Sydney's best chips. I am on a diet as of now.
The kids took me in to the MCA for Mother's Day which was my request. I would like to say I enjoyed Fiona Hall's exhibition more than they did, but truthfully none of us managed to enjoy it that much. They were pretty frazzled by the time we got there and their stores of good behaviour and adoration seemed to have been used up preparing the breakfast in bed.
In between whines of "can we go home now", I did manage to marvel at Hall's amazing beaded animal appendages growing from Tupperware containers - my favourite work. The exhibition notes talked about the confluence of the natural world with civilisation, but I thought it said a lot about the domestic world, decoration and imagination. I will never look at Tupperware the same way again.
PS This series of sardine tin sculptures were Soy's favourite. He had a thing for tiny, detailed, metalwork

That sounds like a great. Suze and I are coming up this weekend and will make the Tupperware exhib a must see, especially as we are hosting a party tonight. And customs house sounds like a nice place for arvo tea too.
Also, Oskar was looking at the photo and wants to know how many teeth Zac has lost.
